Balkans 2023

These photos were taken during the month of October 2023 in several regions of the Balkans. This project aims to show life in Serbia and Serbian communities accross the Balkan region, such as in the Sprska Republic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) or in Kosovo (Kosovska-Mitrovica & Banjska). Since the end of the war in the 1990s and the destruction of Yugoslavia, strong identity oppositions continue to persist within this region. We were able to meet students there as well as lawyers, doctors or teachers together with certain personalities: Ljiljana Smajlović (Serbian journalist and former editor-in-chief of Politika), Dusan Pavlović (director of the Center for Sociopolitical Research of the Srpska Republic), Olgica Bozanic (Association of Families of Kidnapped and Missing Persons in Kosovo and Metohija) or Aleksandar Đenić (executive secretary of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia).
